Former House Majority Leader DeLay Given Prison Sentence

Well, this was not unexpected — although DeLay was at liberty for a good, long time prior to be nabbed for his offenses.  DeLay, dubbed “the Hammer” was well-known for his rabid partisanship and his sale of favors to private interests.  The offenses for which he has been convicted and sentenced involve violations of Texas campaign finance laws.

Of course, those of you familiar with popular culture will recall DeLay’s recent role on the show “Dancing With the Stars.”  Pardon the pun, but in this case the old age — “Justice DeLayed is Justice Denied” — did not hold true.  My private feelings aside, a jury listened to the facts, deemed him guilty, and allowed for the justice system to function at its idealistic level.
